Hide your wife!

Gisele

I think that every male athlete needs to have a serious discussion with their wife, girlfriend (or partner if you’re Jeff Garcia) and let them know they are NEVER to talk to the media about the results of any game, ever, ever. I don’t care if it’s baseball, basketball, football or ultimate Frisbee, if you didn’t compete in the event, don’t open your mouth about the outcome to anyone with a camera. Gisele Bundchen is a perfect example of what can happen if athletes let the females of the house speak to reporters. While Gisele is best known for her amazing body work with Victoria Secret, she filmed her debut of “Gisele Bundchen is Burning” after the Patriots’ loss to the Giants on Sunday.
“My husband can not fucking throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time. I can’t believe they dropped the ball so many times.”
While it is true that Welker had a potential game sealing catch with four minutes left in the game, a game is not won or lost on one play. Mistakes were made throughout the game by multiple players; Brady included. First of all, the pass to Welker was far from perfect. Brady let it sail and Welker had to try and make the play off balance as a result. Welker is all of 5’9 and Brady knows that. If Brady had hit Welker on the numbers and he dropped it, Gisele might have had a point, but that wasn’t the case. And let’s not forget the safety in the opening drive that was completely Brady’s fault. If Brady was mindful of the where the pocket was, he had more than enough time to safely throw the ball away. Instead, Brady was called for intentional grounding, and the Patriots opened in a 2 point hole that proved very costly down the stretch. If the Patriots wouldn’t have taken the safety, they would have been up by 4 points with the Giants driving down the field instead of 2, which would have required the Giants to score the TD instead of running the clock down, knowing they could drill a field goal for the win. I don’t recall Welker’s girlfriend Anna Burnes calling Brady out in the media after the game. Maybe it’s because Welker doesn’t wear Uggs and doesn’t have hair plugs, but whatever Welker is doing to keep Anna out of the spotlight, more athletes should take note.
Now I know that the wives and girlfriends mean well and that they are only trying to stick up for their loved ones, but they need to be told they are causing more harm than good. Brady went out of his way to tell the media that he doesn’t blame Welker and that he is a great teammate. He wanted to make sure that he isn’t seen as a bad teammate and that he wins and loses with dignity. Now all his hard PR work is forgotten and he is going to have address comments he didn’t even make. Reporters are going to be asking question after question about his relationship with others on the team and how things have changed as a result of Giesle’s comments. And it’s not just going to affect Brady, every player in the organization is going to be bombarded with questions about the locker room environment. All these questions could have been avoided if Gisele kept her comments to herself and just waited to talk badly about the receivers behind their backs like a normal person.
Some may not think that things like this are important enough to focus on, but let’s not forget what happened to Glen Rice in 2000 when his wife’s comments may have been the very reason he was traded. Christina Rice made comments about Phil Jackson, Jerry Buss and Jerry West and how they were manipulating Glen. She also stated if she was Glen, “I would have already been Latrell Sprewell II.” For those of you who don’t know, Latrell Sprewell is best known for choking his out his coach in 1997. Obviously these comments are much more serious than anything Gisele said, and Brady is a franchise player while Glen Rice was a second rate role player, but you never know what can happen. Your move Gisele.
